Bill Wetzel and Michael Loftis

Effective August 26th, two of the name-brand insurance agencies in northern Oklahoma announced their merger into one stronger agency with more market power. The new company will be known as Loftis & Wetzel.

Wetzel Agency, Inc. of Ponca City, OK and Loftis Insurance, with locations in Blackwell and Ponca City, OK will combine to become one of northern Oklahoma’s largest insurance operations.

Wetzel Agency was founded in 1931 and is a Ponca City area business institution with its office downtown next to the Post Office. Wetzel Agency president Bill Wetzel is a third generation owner of the firm.

Loftis Insurance was founded in Blackwell in 1958 and expanded to Ponca City in the early 1990s. Mike Loftis, agency President, is a second generation owner of the firm

Both Loftis and Wetzel have been active in the insurance industry serving on the Board of the Independent Insurance Agents of Oklahoma and national posts. Both have been involved in civic activities of their communities and the area.

Loftis’ Ponca City office is relocating to 410 East Grand Avenue in the Wetzel building. The Blackwell location will remain at 115 West Blackwell Avenue.

Loftis & Wetzel will employ a total of 17 qualified insurance professionals in the two locations.
